Crisis Co-Operative (Crisis Co-Op)
Crisis Co-op is an opportunity for delegates to develop their policymaking chops, work with delegates from around the state, and hone their presentation skills. Delegates work in teams of three to five to create a set of policy proposals to address a crisis facing the state of New Jersey. Team members will gain experience researching, writing, and presenting a solution. Finalists will have an opportunity to present live to a panel of adult judges. Past topics include “Climate Change and Sustainability” and “Transportation Infrastructure.”

To sign up: Additional details will be sent through Delegation Advisors at a later date.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-
As a group, write a short research paper and record a short video explaining the group’s policy proposals, submitted before Conference. The paper and video will be graded by the judges according to a rubric. The paper is a standard, well-researched paper, but we encourage teams to get creative with the video! It could be a recorded video call of a mock press conference or news broadcast, a slideshow with a voiceover, an animation, or something else entirely.
-
Each participant should be sure to do their part as a reliable team member. They are expected to communicate regularly with check-ins and status updates as agreed upon by their groups. Collaborating throughout the process will be easier than doing each part individually. This is a group activity - for the best chance of success, they should get to know their fellow teammates from other delegations!
-
If selected as a finalist, present to and answer questions from a panel of adult judges live during Conference. The winner will be announced at the end of Conference.
